either the touch screen or the Q button must have been depressed inadvertently by my hands, my clothing, or the camera bag.

The issue may indeed lie with the handling of the camera.  It may have been a little different during your vacation perhaps?

I've been shooting with the 650D and 70D for the past 2 1/2 years (50k+ shots, both have touchscreens) and don't recall having an issue with inadvertent settings changes.  However I have subtly (almost unconsciously) adjusted my handling of the cameras over this time period, being cognizant of the touchscreen.

I hate to say it, but I think the solution must really come from how the camera is handled (live with it, LOL?)

It's something akin to how we must now handle our (touchscreen) smartphones.  Hold it like a phone of old and you're in a world of hurt!!!

I think that in some situations, turning the camera off or spinning the dial to Auto may help.

Good luck with it!  Happy shooting.
