Preventing accidental settings change on 650D

I suspect this question may yield no useful answer other than "deal with it," but I'll try just in case.

During a recent vacation trip with a 650D, I had several incidents where the file format was changed from my preferred style (RAW only) to something random (RAW+JPEG, S2, S1...) while I wasn't looking, managing to ruin a few of my shots before I realized something was amiss. I'd like to prevent this fiasco in the future.

Assuming the camera itself is not malfunctioning, either the touch screen or the Q button must have been depressed inadvertently by my hands, my clothing, or the camera bag. The incident did not occur on the last day, when I tried disabling the touchscreen, but one day is too short to draw a conclusion--we still have to hypothesize that both are potentially responsible.

So, question: is there any way to prevent accidental change of settings on a 650D, which lacks a hardware lock button like that found on a 6D? The most foolproof way is to turn the camera off, but that is only practical when I know I'm not going to use it for a while. Any other possibilities?
