Should I go to a Pana GX7 from a G3??
Sep 25, 2014
Hi all!
Longtime lurker here ...
I currently own a Pana DMC-G3 that I got for trips (I was tired of my Wife complaining about being "Head Sherpa In Charge of the 70-200 L-Series Lens" {Grin} (and sometimes the 24-70 L-Series!).
Although I have to give it to her - she's fast with a lens cap, no sensor dust here, thank you. LOL
Have a great collection of Canon glass that I'll be parting with soon. This M4/3 setup has won me over. All the goodness, none of the weight!
I have it setup with Mega-OIS 14-42 Kit lens (soon to be replaced with the pancake version) and a Mega-OIS 45-200 I got for a steal of a price (long story, but it cost me ... ready? ... $6 USD !)
Sometimes ya get lucky.
Just returned from a short trip to Denver & surrounds (Red Rocks, etc), and I have to say I fell in love with this camera / lens setup.
That said, as you all know, new camera lust is a sickness, and I started reading about the new GX7 and the fever is upon me.
HELP!! How about you help out a fellow photog who has the lust.
I looked at the GH4K (OMG!!) but it's just too big, and I don't do much video, although the thought of grabbing an 8MB from the 4K video is really sexy. Gets those creative juices flowin'.
Besides, the GX7 seems to be just what I've always wanted. (Am thinking of getting it with the beloved 20mm if the price is right).
I'm sure I can swing it price-wise if I sell my Canon glass (which I will do anyway), so...
The question becomes - is it worth the upgrade cost? Is there enough difference to matter? I've always favored Prosumer bodies.
There you have it - let's hear some thoughts from those I've long admired in the Forum.
