Am still a bit baffled at the 'pro' insistance of 24fps, why?

I guess I for one do see the 24fps flicker/jitter, and we know that some famous Directors of feature film have tried/prefer 48fps or even 96fps.

Flicker is 'noise' to me, when I gaze across a landscape using eyes - guess what? NO FLICKER !! Now if I blink real quickly I can get flicker but it is SO TIRING !

So I guess 24fps has possible s/w editing/equipment advantages vs. 30fps or 60fps but are there more reasons ? (I am aware of the dim room lessening of flicker etc)

EOSHD.com contributors state such things as 'and thankfully it has 24fps mode' and such - for 4kHD even.

Aren't the newer digital theatre projectors capable of showing essentially any fps - 24/30/60 fps (i or p)? Aren't viewers demanding higher IQ and sound ?

So why this ongoing 24fps fetish ?  Tech failings ?? Old dog no new tricks plz ?

PS: Flicker should be a horse name NOT in a $10 movie !!
