Would like to upgrade from a Rebel T3/EOS 1100D. Rebel T5i, EOS 60D or other?

Hi All,

I have been using a Rebel T3 for two years, primarily taking photos in the Canadian Rockies. Next year I will be hitting the road to travel and will be using a camera in places such as the Amazon, Antarctica and the Atacama Desert.

I have two lenses

  • EF-S 18-55mm
  • EF-S 55-250mm

as so would like to continue using them if it makes good sense to.

Would I notice much of a quality difference with a Rebel T5i? This seems like a great deal and I could sell the two included lenses.

Alternatively I have seen on a different post here, that it may be preferable to go for an EOS 60D instead (found body only for around C$510, used on eBay).

I am relatively inexperienced, though more than willing to learn more to get the best of a new camera. Considering the two lenses I currently have and the varying environments I will be using the camera, do any of you have a recommendation for what camera I should go for? I have looked at snapshot, but would love some direct advice from the forum users here if possible.

If there is any information I can provide to help get the best answer, please ask.

Many Thanks,
Alan
