Which prime for the NX3000
Sep 19, 2014
Now that I have an unexpected rebate to play with, I'm wondering which is the best prime to go for. I want the most "general purpose" and affordable one, which will give some ability to produce narrow DOF. The 45mm f1.8 would be best at portrait length but too narrow for landscapes and other general purpose. At the other end, the 16 would be perhaps too wide and would not give narrow DOF. That leaves the 20 and 30. I guess the former would be best for general purpose but at f2.8 would not be very different to the kit zoom, whilst the 30 would be noticeably faster, but I'm worried it might be a bit too narrow. Of course, I started photo life with a "nifty fifty" which seemed fine in those long ago days. I'm leaning to the 30, but any guidance would be welcome.
What a pity the NX Mini's 17mm f1.8 won't fit.
