I am not sure if I ever end up with a portfolio like yours or the ones you granted links to. But pictures like these made me buy a camera so many years ago. I wanted to capture impressive moments or landscapes or colors and shapes. Picture which talk to me on an emotional base.

As you may guess from my comment, I really like your portfolio.

. . . when someone strives to create with and from one's heart, thereby entering the realm of emotional reality. It leads to success.

....isn't that a pity that this forum discusses in length about the file sizes of the various X3F files or the exact processing time of SPP on various computers, but a thread like this goes almost unnoticed...?

This is because the visual arts are about things that cannot be expressed in words.

You can talk about equipment and methods, or biographies, but there is little to be said about pictures.

Pictures such as Claudio's come from the heart and can say many, many things that cry out for us to discuss them. This lack of recognition and discussion is one reason the world is such an angry place to live in.

Little to be said about these pics? Open your heart, please. Let IT speak for a change instead of all the constant, incessant techno mumbo jumbo.

Jim, many thanks for your words, very appreciated

to be honest D Cox has expressed is feeling…
I may agree on the claim "visual arts are about things that cannot be expressed in words", but, to me, this does not imply that one cannot discuss about images, painting, or sculptures (as art critics do, hopefully, in less emphatic way), or express feelings, emotions, etc.
same holds for music, dance, cinema, performances, etc.

I myself I'm often lazy, sometimes I feel embarrassed, in giving feedbacks on photos. Discussions on images are more difficult than discussions on technics, I think. Images are so personal, so subjective, it's hard to argue on defects or qualities.

I think that one of the roles of forums is to create a community, a group of persons that starting knowing each other may engage in more difficult discussions. I'm not a professional photographer (I'm a walker more than a photographer, my goal is to walk, photos are lucky encounters), I don't have to advertise or to sell my images. For a long time I shared my images only with a small group of friends. They pushed me to create a website, and I decided to post in this forum because I read it regularly, I feel a little bit at home. I would like to give back something (I learned a lot from the members of this forum, but I have nothing to say about technics). I enjoy to take pictures and to create galleries, but discussions and feedbacks are one of the means to progress (even though I'm sure I will not necessary follow all the criticisms). It's so hard to take a step back from the images you have created, chosen, processed, etc. criticisms or likes, comments or discussions, can help to look at your images in a different way, and this is interesting

ciao

(sorry for my english)
