It's easier to find info on RGB metering sensors from Nikon's press materials. They've been using RGB metering sensors on most of their cameras for a long time, as far back as the Nikon D300 I think. Canon has been way behind in that regard, and the 1DX was the first EOS digital SLR with an RGB metering sensor.  Little wonder they've been mum about the technology.

The "IR" stuff on the Canon is new though. I'm not entirely sure what that is about.
