I'm heading to the land down under tomorrow for two week and I thought I had it figured out but now I'm having second thoughts about what to take with me. I the following setups

Sony A7
- Tamron 28-75 f2.8
- FE 55mm
- Sigma 50-500
- Minolta 28-105

Fuji X-T1
- 18-55
- 55-200
- 35mm
- 10-24 (definitely taking this one)
- Rokinon 85mm f1.4

I have a large Case Logic backpack that will fit everything but I'm not sure if I really want to carry al all that specially when I'll b travelling with the family.

Any suggestion?

As you're traveling taking two different sets of lenses and bodies seems daft.

As you are "definitely" taking the 1024 on the Fuji XTi it simply is a matter of deciding which other lenses to take with that body, IMO.

For me that would be be :
  • Fuji X-T1
  • 18-55
  • 55-200
  • 10-24 (definitely taking this one)
Personally I don't normally use a fast 35mm or 85mm and prefer a fast fifty on crop, but I'd consider the 35mm as well if it was light enough as a fast lens under 50mm is better than a fast lens past it n crop IMO ( for social situations, family portraits ). The 85mm seems too long for that purpose on crop to me.

A pancake lens is the first I would take with me if I went on a trip. It is lightweight and it makes your camera almost pocketable. If there is bad weather, you could still shoot with your camera and tuck it back inside your jacket.

Unfortunately, I don't have a pancake lens.

Two pro-quality camera systems and no idea which one to take? If you can't work out which kit best suits your photography then who else can?

It's not that I cannot figure it out myself but sometimes it's good to ask for opinions from other people because that can spark some ideas that you might not have thought yourself.

As for me, I decided to just take Fuji kit (10-24, 18-55, 55-200) as that will provide the best combination of focal lengths and light package.

i'll give you that buddy , though i most often see these questions divide opinions and that sparks more confusion

Have a great trip and post us some nice photos when you get back
