A2 rear control dial

The rear control dial on my DiMAGE A2 is becoming flaky. When you turn it in e.g. M mode, it controls the Aperture setting. Normally you should see the F number change gradually from F2.8 to F11, when using the control dial.

Now I have the situation that the F number jumps: F2.8 > F3.5 > F4.0 > F2.8 > F3.5 etc. If you turn keep on turning the dial, you will get to F11 eventually. This effect happens with the lower F numbers, so once you get above F7.1 or so, it works fine.

Has the control dial worn out?
