Maybe the NX3000 for me.

To my surprise (not!) Samsung Marketing did not react to my ultimatum to release the 17mm f1.8 lens for the NX Mini, in the UK before 31st. August. So I won't be buying that then.

Now in my mid-70's, I'm looking to replace my Panny FZ200 and G6 - both of which get left at home because of their weight. I am looking for reasonable IQ for portraiture and post-processed HDR - for which I prefer an AEB system with 3 shots 2EV apart. I now realise that the over-riding factor for me now is camera weight, and I reckon on a maximum acceptable value of about 300gm.

My attention was drawn by the UK's Camera Price Buster suddenly showing the NX3000 at £279, as John Lewis have reduced it by £70. Their website didn't show it as coming with the useful LR5, so I thought that might be the reason for the reduction. Thought I'd ask though, and it turns out that LR5 is part of the package as normal.

Our local branch of Curry's has it in stock, so this afternoon I popped in to take a look, and was very pleasantly surprised - I thought it handled well and I was delighted to find it had a nearly silent shutter, and a quickly found AEB with 3 rapid shots 2 EV apart. Total weight with the new 16-50 is 340gm., and it was easily jacket pocketable. Even lower weight and better pocketability with a pancake lens. I know it seems a downgrade from the NX2000, but some recent threads are reporting a stellar IQ and an LCD easier to see in sunlight.

It seems to do everything I want, so I think that's going to be the one for me. Just waiting to see what Photokina brings, though.
