Hi,

I just got my NX20. I shoot few picts in RAW format and play them on the screen. The screen just shows "processing" for around 8 seconds. Strange?

Please share.

Yes. For jpeg the speed is fine. For raw I hope it shall be faster
Unfortunately, that is a big complaint with NX210 or NX20 and earlier cameras, very slow RAW processing, with software that locks you out of changing controls while it is processing the buffer. The NX300 is better, but has a small buffer, and the NX30 is much better since it has a larger buffer.

If you shoot back to back RAW files, try not to review the image right away :) Also, some continuous shooting modes will make it lock up like that as well.

Finally, reviewing images before they are done being written can cause the camera to crash and require a restart by pulling the battery. No idea why this happens, but it isn't too common, worst when reviewing images...
No sadly that is normal.. though check the firmware if it is 1.01 update it, it may help a little. But yes the NX20 is slow.

EDIT - I missed that this is playback.. that is not normal for playback

What sd card are you using? that makes a difference.

No, 8 seconds is NOT normal. I agree however that a high quality card can make a big difference.

Are you sure that only the playback arrow has been pressed and you're stepping through the shots with the back dial? As others say, you should be using at least a Class 10 card.

Hi,

I tried both UHS-1 and Class 4 card. I haven't used a stop watch but the difference is little.

UHS-1 is usually going to be a class 10 card. but Class 10 is a minimum standard an low end class ten may be a little slow.

Is this only happening when you go to playback? and are you pressing the playback button and scrolling one image at a time, or are you "zoom" out to show more images on the screen? (that some times can cause a hang on early firmware or slower cards, if there are a lot of images)

Firmware V1.16

Take few photos and Just press the play button and the screen displays "processing" for ........ so long and I can do nothing about it.

how many is a few?

Do you mean you take a bunch of photos in a row and then hit the playback button right away and it says processing? with the green light still on or blinking?

That is normal. If you take a few shots and the Green light is off, and you hit playback and nothing happens then that isn't normal.

About the best to expect from NX20 is 1.5 seconds per RAW file with a good memory card (the Sandisk Extreme cards were fastest for me, make sure to get a genuine card and not a counterfeit, i.e., buy retail from trusted store).
