Sigma 18-125 OS HSM Nikon Optical Stabilizer broken?
a friend of mine has showed me his Sigma 18-125 OS HSM for Nikon.
We have tested it using 2 cameras (D300 and D70) and when we turn on the camera, there is a buzz from the lens.
After trying to take some pictures we've found out that almost surely it's the stabilizer that keeps moving the stabilized elements. Even turning it off with the switch changes nothing. Pictures are really blurry with exposure time of 1/400 or lower.
Here is a video of the camera turned on (you can listen to the noise): https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5PT-E5RDr03Q3Q1R1BnRnhBVlk/edit
Is there some way to fully disable the stabilizer or to solve the problem (even removing pins if needed) ?
Lens is out of warranty and probably not worth a repair.
Thank you in advance.
