NX300 + Legacy lens nikkor 105mm 2.5 AIS
2

Hi guys. Couple days ago I had the chance to take some pictures with my samsung nx300 while using the old nikkor 105mm f2.5 which is a manual lens. Using manual focus is still challenging for me since I very used to the convenient auto focus. However, I could spent some good time playing with the lens in the streets of Melbourne

Let's start with some pictures of the camera itself. Those pictures were taken with my mobile so the image is not the best. The lens is not small at all but it is not overly heavy (about 400g) and I kinda like the way it looks on the nx300.

Build-in hood is now contracted.

Without lens cap.

Finally, built-in hood "turned on".

Very well. I have been avoiding taking pictures in slow shutter speeds (by slow I mean 1/125 or less) since there is no image stabilisation. Even so, it still hard to focus properly and many of my pictures are actually out of focus. Below, I show some samples. All the samples are unedited, saved in raw format and the only post-production was changing the format to jpeg and lowering the resolution so the files can be uploaded faster. For most of the samples I used aperture f4.0 although a few of them f2.5 or f5.6 were also used. Furthermore, all pictures were taken without a tripod, just my shaky hands and in the P mode, auto white balance and auto ISO. You may notice that some are a bit blurred. Not sure whether the blur is due to my lack of adequate focus or just a natural creamy texture of the lens.

A midday protrait 'cause that's the golden hour.

Despite not the usual, sometimes the nx300 has some hard time to get the correct exposure.

Footy crowd.

Perhaps a bit overexposed?

That's it folks! As a beginner, my eyes are not well trained to precisely evaluate the lens. I would say that sometimes I miss some saturation or contrast. My idea was to publish these pictures here in order to help other people who may be considering to buy this lens or a similar manual lens. Critics or suggestions are most welcome!
