I have found turtles to be very skittish reptiles to try and photograph. I spotted this trio on a rock that turtles frequently rest on. I live on the Muskegon River outside of Big Rapids MI and was concentrating on photographing Gold Finches when I spotted these from my deck.
Still cannot figure how the turtle on the far right is managing to stay on the rock.
Taken with a K-5 using a Tokina AT-X SD 100-300 f/4.0 and a Tamron - F 1.4X Pz-AF TC. Considering the lens along with a TC and the fact this is a pretty significant crop I thought it turned out half way decent. Manual focused using a Vanguard Altra Pro 263AT tripod and a Vanguard BBH-200 ball head.
