Re: I was thinking Sony DSLR's.....NT

Have you ever owned an EX2f? You constantly talk it down on this forum and repeatedly post long detailed lists of LX 7 specs ad nauseam. Apart from the menus the cameras seem pretty identical but the Panasonic will probably fall to bits before the Samsung does I expect.
No, never owned EX2F - as I wrote I did comparisons on borrowed cameras before decison taking FOR MYSELF and I mentioned WHY I decided to buy LX7 instead od EX2F
Somebody can choose EX2F -if it is better for him why not?
Do not treat it so personal please.
Everything i wrote is my personal opinion maybe helpful for somebody - always possible to verify if somwhere I have lied.
As I have never owned a LX7 I would not know if it is 'better' than the EX2f and neither do you. I like the fact with the EX2f that you can seamlessly record stills whilst videoing which I do not believe can be done with the LX7.
Better is subjective - for me better as I said earlier is LX7 (overall) .
(When I compared EX1 vs LX5, I liked EX1 more.)
The lens on the EX2f is Schneider- Kreuznach (S-K) branded which is as prestigious as Leica and please do not say it is really not S_K as I am sure it as much S-K as Panasonic is Leica.
OK. S-K is also great from optical side - but LX7 lens is a little longer reach and faster in tele range.
From tests i did I observed better sharpness in picture corners on LX7 and after over year using more than 9000 pictures even to NX lens comparisons (I owe NX10 camera too) I have some knowledge.
For these tiny lens most geometrical correction is done in software anyhow. Your comparison done on reviews will be on V1.0 Samsung firmware and most of the reviews I read did not know how to operate the Samsung.
I always compare RAW files because jpg is personal even for camera producers.
Both cameras have distortions and vigneting issues(not every software for RAW developing will show this - some programs do automatic correction only) it is normal for wide angle and it is corrected by software but sometimes I need wider field of view even if picture corners are bended.
But once again for me picture quality between all those sensors is marginal - I mentioned key camera properties/advantages those were important - FOR ME.
You can compare quality in corners do not forget to use the same focal lenght eqv. some people compare distortions from 24 mm eqv. camera to 50 mm.... ha ha..
If you are going to compare brands you need to own both with current firmware and then post images.
Why? Does EX2F have aperture ring? Viewfinder? Multiaspect sensor?Automatic ND filter or double possibility for filters or accesories mounting (one bayonet very convenient for heavy converters)
Firmware? You know it is not posiible to change such things by firmware.
BTW LX7 stil has original any update so far! And it works perfectly.
Once again I compared everything- firmware (as you said can be changed) is not so much important as hardware for me.
The Panasonic FZ1000 is a massive lump of ironmongery given it only has a small 1" sensor and you just cannot compare it with an interchangeable lens camera with double the sensor size. There is a great deal of difference between 100 fanboys getting excited on a forum and popularity as far as total sales go.
I do not compare to ex2/lx7 this camera... of course it is bulky brige camera as SLR. but has many advantages for many people the main is decent picture quality and big zoom range, relatively small size in one - very well seen and not possible in mirrorless system NX.
Sony offers RX10 and Samsung nothing so it is a pitty because few years ago Pro 815 with S_K F2,4 lens 2/3" sensor in that period was very nice.
Now we have another compact on the market Fuji X30 very well equipped but unfortunatel lack of 24 mm still. It is a pitty could be great compact.
