Start with the end in mind!
So many people here looking for the holy grail when in fact they may already have it. I posted awhile ago that for the most part, print is dead and still believe that is true. I just printed out about 30 16x20s with a 12MB camera and they turned out absolutely beautiful, but prior to that all of my "printing" has been to the screen. With that said I think people really need to start with the end in mind i.e. what am I going to do with my final photographs? Will they most likely remain digital or will I be printing and framing? That will keep most people from over-buying. The rest I would consider speciality cameras i.e. sports, low-light and commercial fashion.
