Thanks for looking,

comments welcome,

Richard, you've outdone yourself. What a great set this week!

I caught these tiny Superb Fairy Wrens a few weeks ago on the SE coast of Australia.
It was not long after sunrise and they were foraging along the back of the beach where the rocky ledges give way to thick vegetation. As usual for this time of day they were in a hurry to re-fuel after their night sleep and it was tricky to keep up with them as they jumped from rock to sand to shrub, pausing for just a second or two for me to shoot.
.
The males will soon be in their (superb) spring breeding plumage, but in winter the only tell-tale is their deep blue tail feathers. 2 of these shots are of the male
.

All were hand-held, raw pp using Lr5.6, cropped to about 10%, resized to 1600p wide
.

Peter, some excellent photos of these active little birds; they only ever give half a chance.

I'm looking forward the spring and their brilliant blues for the mating season.

Dicky.

all very nice Milt,

the shot of the herons in the nest has something special to it . . .has a 3D feel . . .I love it !!

Peter

This is a Blue-faced Honeyeater.

But I can't find this one in my bird book. I presume it to be a local variant.

that's an interesting set Bob, all are great shots.

The raven looks like it's seen better days.

Good shooting Richard. Beautiful birds

Peter

very nice shots Dicky. I've not caught either of these species.

Your 2nd bird looks like a juvenile BF Honeyeaters.
