If you look at their website, the OP is shooting top-down and very small images, so a small field of view. F4-F8 should be plenty.

Thanks for all the help you've given me.  Since you were nice in every post, I've taken you off Ignore.

It turns out that increasing the ISO to 400 solved the problem.  The camera was selecting 200 when left to it's own devices.

The F-stop before I set the ISO to 400 was usually 3.5, sometimes 4.5.  Now it is between 4.5 and 5.6.

Exposure times are all over the place.

Thanks for all the help you've given me!  I think the lesson of this thread is to seek out the simplest solution first (changing a camera setting), and then going to the more complicated solution if that doesn't work (a tripod).  Happily, the simple solution works.

I should also say that the ISO 400 shots look just as good as the ISO 200 shots looked -- no visible degradation.  And the color accuracy is so much better than my old Canon point-and-shoot.

I'm a happy camper now!

By the way, do you think that my landscape shots (when using the camera for pleasure photography) will be sharper if I keep the ISO high?  I was having the same problem with landscape shots as I was having with my product shots:  Objects towards the edges were coming out soft.  If I always shoot at 200 or 400 ISO, will that improve?

Thanks again!
