First Canon 1100D bought used: are these AF points lit up correctly?

I bought a used Canon 1100D and AF points lighting does not look good to me. It's my first DSLR so I'm asking for a confirmation. The red light in the viewfinder is also very dim and can't be seen against a daylight scene, so I wonder why it should be useful: I can't see which points have been selected by auto AF except in dimly lit rooms or after evening.

I strived to make the viewfinder dots perfectly focused and this image resembles what I really see. Even in a dimly lit room it's particularly difficult to see upper left and right AF points.

Canon EOS 1100D (EOS Rebel T3 / EOS Kiss X50)
