Could anyone tell me which Canon camera bodies retain autofocus (without taping the pins) with a canon 1.4 teleconverter?

All EOS bodies provide phase-detect AF with all Canon Extender 1.4× models provided that the extender-compatible EF lens to which the Extender is fitted has an aperture of f/4 or wider (so the combination has an aperture of f/5.6 or wider). Some high-end EOS bodies (EOS-3, EOS-1V, EOS-1D series, EOS 5D Mark III – 1DX and 5DII only with updated firmware) provide phase-detect AF with a combination that is f/8 or wider, but only at the centre point or, on the 1DX and 5DIII, expanded centre point. I think that there may be a few specialist lenses that do not quite follow these simple rules, and on the 61-point AF system of the 1DX and 5DIII there are quite complicated tables of exactly what happens at each AF point with each lens or lens+Extender combination.
