I was stuck at home over the weekend. We've been having ant attack due to warm and dry weather outside.

I tried to take some macro pictures using X-E1 and XF 60mm. However, I could not get the object to fill the frame. I had to heavily crop the pictures.

I am wondering if there is anything I can do to take better macro pictures with my X body.

There are several things that you can do. The first is to get almost any macro lens for Canon or Nikon cameras and a lens adapter for it. You'll have to focus it manually but many macro photographers focus manually anyway even when the use autofocus lenses.

A much less expensive solution is to buy a set of extension tubes for Fuji's X mount. If you search Amazon you'll find many brands of tubes such as Fotodiox, Fotasy, Fotga, Neewer, Viltrox and others. They typically include 2 or 3 different size tubes and can be stacked together in different combination where the greater the tube length the greater the magnification.

The most expensive sets cost between $40 and $50. Fotodiox has one for $45 and another for $10. The $45 version includes a 10mm and a 16mm tube and claims to allow autofocusing but with the extreme magnification that the tubes allow, the depth of field is so razor thin that you'd probably be better off putting the camera on an adjustable rail that's mounted on a good tripod. The $10 version includes 3 tubes, 7mm, 14mm and 28mm.
