It's my understanding that if your using crop mode to boost the FPS you should be unaffected by this. I would try a long exposure just to find out if your camera is affected. It sounds like an easy fix for Nikon according to this:

I will not be shooting long exposures in 1.2X crop mode and agree with you that it would make little sense to do so. If you read the Nikon advisory carefully, it appears to read that the issue can occur during long exposures AND in 1.2X crop mode (regardless of whether it is a long exposure or not). It is possible that their advisory is improperly written, which is one of the reasons I asked the question. I have yet to see a 1.2X crop mode issue posted, and I'll be checking mine tonight to see if I can cause an issue.
