D800, 24-70, wa, batteries etc. Trekking in the Himalayas? Phew, you're obviously going to be using porters. Personally, having lugged a D700, 24-70 and various other primes around on somewhat less demanding treks (Cretan gorges etc) I'm sure glad I shoot mostly MFT these days. I've been to both the western and eastern Himalayas but in those days I wasn't afflicted with the obsession to take cameras everywhere.

FWIW I'd concur that if you must load yourself down with all this gear the obvious choice of backup camera is a Nikon 1 body and maybe one prime (plus the adaptor). Get a Capture Clip and carry this combo on your backpack shoulder strap for rapid deployment. I bought such a system (V1) for a woman friend who was doing the Inca Trail and showed her how to shoot stitched panos (RAWs). She was delighted - and I was impressed by the results.
