FZ1000: 400mm, 800mm (i.zoom) -- My Comparisons
2

According to the Manual about Intelligent Zoom (p. 198):

  • You can zoom in up to twice the original zoom magnification while minimising the
    deterioration of the image quality.

The image is not cropped in camera, so it remains a 20 MP file (5472 x 3648)

I compared 400mm to 800mm in two ways: 1) Photographing the scene at both focal lengths from the same location to get an idea of distance; and 2) Scenes at 800mm filling the frame, followed by moving closer to fill the frame at 400mm to see how the image quality compares.

For this series, I did not crop anything.
