Is the Nikon Df the best option for a lighter walk about Camera

I agree.

I use Sony A7 as my trip camera with 35mm FE, but also with many Nikon lenses with adapter. Nikon 50mm Ais 1.2 and tiny Voigtlander 20mm 3.5 Color Scopar for Nikon with Nikon adapter are excellent and versatile lenses also with A7.
I prefer Df over Sony because its´better sensor and low light high iso performance and cleaner colors.
