In a previous rumor, there was an article that Canon had a sensor with Foveon-like multi-lawer characteristics.
http://www.canonrumors.com/2013/05/patent-canon-foveon-sensor/

I think it would be great if Canon put big R&D $$$ into Foveon-like sensor technology, especially if high-iso improved.

No way Canon is going to put a Foveon like sensor in 7DMk2.

1) They will want to compete in the HD videosegment

2) High ISO

3) Most important of all, not disrupt the workflow so the RAW files needs to be handled by the software of  Adobe and the like.

I think this rumour is more correct: http://www.canonrumors.com/2014/06/new-sensor-tech-in-eos-7d-mark-ii-cr2/

If Canon is going to release a new sensor I would expect them to do it in a separate experimental camera for testing it out on the public and not in one of they "flagship" releases.
