Here's a camera ad to make you re-think current Sony lens prices

One of Konica's famous "Lens alone is worth the price" ads

$125 in 2104 dollars is just under $1000!

Makes today's Zeiss lenses look like real bargains!

Back in 1958, someone stole my 50mm f2 Summar lens from my jacket pocket at a basketball game when I was shooting my Leica IIIa with a 90mm. So I went to my local camera store, and for $50, bought a Leica-thread 50mm f1.9 Hexanon. After all, if "The Lens Alone Is Worth the Price," why not buy the lens alone? And it sure was!

Fast forward to 1964 and I sell the Hexanon for $50 to a guy in the Chicago PR agency where I worked, inasmuch as I'd moved to a Topcon SLR.

Look what they sell for today  - who knew that $50 lens would become a cult lens!
