Ask the seller about the focusing lights. They either don't work at all or everything works except the center point (best case scenario) I'd actually advise getting it installed at a Camera service center in your area. Sometimes if you bring in the focus screen itself, they might even do this complimentary or for a very small fee. Anyway, they've got much better installation tools.

Make sure to test the screen with a slow lens like the kit lens at 55mm f/5.6 for example. It might not be worth it over the original.

dont understand. It migh not be worth it over the original.

2. regaring the focussing lights. I have found this here:

http://www.katzeyeoptics.com/page--Grid-Lines-Crop-Guides--gridlines.html

under 1000d they say:

Canon® 350D/1000D AF Rectangles

The standard KatzEye™ focusing screens for the Canon 350D and 1000D do not include the rectangles which mark the locations of the AF points. If you want the AF rectangles, please select this option when you add your screen to the cart. This pattern is only available on the Canon 350D (Rebel XT/Kiss Digital N) and Canon 1000D (Rebel XS) cameras, and as noted in the product description, addition of this option will still not allow the AF points to illuminate.

if the lights are not illumination only sound and green-dot is a reference and i still dont know where it is focussing.

i cannot imagine that with this little split-screen-center-area(compared to SLR) i can properly focus without a right-angle-3.5x viewfinder.

btw: why the screen-producers do not offer the genious praktica/pentacon double-split-microprism-screen? is there still a patent?

what has the make(model) to do with illumination or non-illumination on 1000D. How is it blocked?
