When my Olympus cameras see a PC formatted card at switch-on, they automatically format it again, and that is a short format.

I've never formatted on the pc. in My Canon 6D I have the option to do quick or complete format. I always choose complete format, but the FZ1000 doesn't have that option.

Since Windows sees the camera as a removable disk, you may be able to do the long format with the card still in the FZ-1000. I can do this on my Olympus jobs.

I have to wait for economic reasons to purchase yet another camera. But the FZ-1000 has just become available in New Zealand, although at a price that I have not paid for a camera since 2002.
