D300 Shutter Kaput
I got this second hand, well conserved D300 two weeks ago, specifically for a race this weekend. Previous owner said it had less than 23K actuations. I shot 3.000 images yesterday with no issue, and I was shooting around 15.000 today when I noticed a dark band on an image. I thought it was a shadow and keep shooting. But then I noticed the same shadow a few frames after and realized it was something else. I removed the lens, shot a 3sec exposure and saw this:
That piece is still visible when the shutter closes. Camera doesn't seem to mind it. I surely do.
Any clues? Should I just yank it?
I still have one more day to shoot and I don't want to use my backup (D700)
Don't forget the old film days, less resources and great pictures.
