How to Access Camera Under a Drive Letter?

Re: Humble apologies...

In my case I had simply left my card reader at home, which hopefully won't happen again.

My first digital camera was purchased in 2000 and was a Casio QV3000, (actually made by Canon) maybe THAT is the one that could be direct connected and accessed via drive letter. I do recall first being aware of PTP some time in the early 2000s. It may well have been when I purchased the 300D.

The only reason that I am even interested in this is that I use a script to selectively copy files off the camera card and organise them the way I like to on the computer. I developed the script using derive letters only to find that this wouldn't work when the camera was accessed directly. I have no doubt that I could find out how to access the camera in the script, but it was easier to buy a  card reader.
