How does the Zebra thingy work?

This is my first time seeing a function called Zebra and my guess is it displays the over exposed areas, blownout. I did not really have this feature in nikon other than a flashing white area in image preview. on sony its real time,

i'm confused because I see several settings from 70 to 110%

what does that mean?

can anyone explain in detail how to use this? is it for movies?

i do only still photography so is it something that would not pertain to me?
