It is true, that in general it seems to be at least easier to design lenses for a mirrorless camera with an APS-C sized sensor. The Sony has more reflections/ghosts from internal reflections than APS-C systems, though I have not really seen those "ghosts"in my own photos and the lenses that I have for the A7 perform superbly.
