Yes...the new XAVCS codec has been questionable from day one in this camera - Sony needs to get back to the drawing board, there's no reason it should be problematic at 24fps.  This seems to definitely be software related, and can be addressed with a firmware fix - but we all know Sony is not so forthcoming with those.

In the meantime, why not just use AVCHD 24fps?  You will still benefit from the improved resolution of the M3, and the better light gathering at the telephoto end.

Straight out of the camera, I doubt very much there will be a noticeable difference between AVCHD and a functional XAVCS file.  The real difference may be seen if the movie is color corrected later - higher mbit XAVCS should have more latitude with grading.
