I bought mine 23 months ago after having dropped my 40D into the sea when sailing. To that camera I had 10-20, 17-70, 70-210/2,8 with1, 4 TC and a 50/1,8. I sold everything and bought an E-M5 with kit lens 12-50. I was never friends with that lens. Got 19/2,8. Not much better. Got 45/1,8. Wonderful! Got 9-18. A good though not remarkable wide, better than the 10-20. Got 40-150R, a good zoom, sharper than the 70-210 but I really miss 2,8. Got 12-40/2,8. Just excellent, though a little softer at 40 mm. Sold all lenses except for the 40-150 to finance the 12-40. No regrets.

The EM-5 with 12-40 is on the whole better than the 40D with 17-70. It gives me excellent pictures. If they are not good it's not the cameras fault. I'm very pleased. IQ is much better. 40D handling was better, very nice control of everything. E-M5 is a little awkward in this regard. But that's a minor remark. At the moment I see no reason to upgrade the camera. It's my best so far, and I have owned quite a few since the sixties. The 12-40, though a little expensive, is my best photo investment ever.
