Weird monochrome fringe on intensely colored flower, wtf is happening here?

Figured it out... ACR's fringe removal.

I foolishly deleted the raw. Just a reflexive habit after exporting to JPEG. But, I figured out the problem anyway. Wasn't related to sharpening, though I appreciate everyone taking a stab at it.

I batch corrected a few photos in ACR, and some of them had fringing issues, with tree branches against sky. I believe I accidentally had this picture selected when I used fringe removal on it. So ACR detected a high contrast area where a purple fringe met a neutral color, and it desaturated the purple.

I was able to recreate the issue in a different pic.
I just have to be more careful when using fringe removal.
