  1. You want to buy a nice camera with good lowlight options. You're trying to decide between an LX7 (f/1.4-2.3 lens), RX100 (f/1.8-2.8 lens), GM1 (f/3.5-5.6 lens), and A5000 (f/3.5-5.6 lens). You decide the LX7 is the best because f/1.4 = f/1.4 = f/1.4

I used a different process, but I have to agree with your conclusion that the LX7 has the best low light ability.

I tried to determine the EV level at which each camera could be used for handheld, static-subject pictures. Just using test reports (all based on out-of-camera JPEG's), I looked for the widest f-stop available at my preferred 50mm equivalent focal length, the lowest shutter speed that could be handheld (from Camera Labs reports), and the ISO at which a reasonably good 8 X 10 inch print could be made (I used Imaging Resource for ISO levels; the A5000 has not had a full review, so I had to guess by cross-referencing to models they described as similar). Then I used an exposure chart to see the EV level each was capable of shooting at.

LX7: f/1.9, 1/4 second, ISO 800, EV 1

RX100: f/3.5, 1/8 second, ISO 3200, EV 1.5

GM1: f/5.1, 1/10 second, ISO 3200, EV 3

A5000: f/5.6, 1/8 second, ISO 3200 EV 3

There is something wrong with your widest f-stops at 50mm eq. It cannot be true for the RX100 and for the A5000, at least.

And I am not saying that this is the only wrong part of your analysis.
