Re: Olympus E-PM2: Small Camera, Big Surprise

I have an E-PM2 and I use it quite a bit as a second body. I was lucky and got it with both the kit and the 40-150 lens new for $250; hard to beat that. It gives me the same image quality, but in a much smaller package, and when I use it the idea is to go light. In fact, I did a recent trip with just the M2, the kit lens, and the 40-150; a very lightweight but still high quality alternative to a full SLR and the whole package including the zoom and a bag with batteries and the tiny clip on flash weighs, what, like a pound? I generally use the VF2 instead of the VF4 on it, there isn't much visual difference in actual use IMHO and the VF2 is smaller. The only improvement I'd like to make at the moment would be to have the EZ kit lens just for compactness instead of the RII kit; The RII is light enough, but again, compactness. You might almost be able to stick it in your big pocket with the EZ lens on. Probably have to buy another body to get a good deal on that lens at the moment.

As for "cons", I'd wish for a 4:3 ratio screen; a lot of the screen is wasted unless you shoot 16:9 photos and I don't. If the screen was a bit better maybe I could leave the viewfinder home. I'd also wish for IS on half press like on the E-M5 for use with manual lens focusing, but the M2 does not do that.
