The problem with starting another recording immediately after 29 minutes 59 seconds is that you lose some time untill the recording begins again. In some situations it is surely a no go (e.g. weddings: Oh sorry, your "Yes" isn't on record...).

It's the first time I hear about SSC. With a 2 sec overlap it would really remove the need for a camcorder.

Well that is the point Mobius (the $70 Chinese action camera) can do it, as long as you set a clip length that would generate a file less than 4 gigs. I generally use 15 minutes per clip restriction, and I can record for hours without loosing a single second.

If I don't use clip duration restriction, Mobius still saves and continues after reaching 4 gigs (whenever that may be, depending on the quality settings and scene), but I loose roughly about 5 seconds between clips. At least it keeps recording...

I just resent the idea that some things are crippled on purpose, not for technical reasons, just to make sure they can squeeze more money out of people.

I generally despise the video quality on NX2000 anyways. With the lens and sensor involved, it should at least be able to surpass cameras that cost one tenth of it's initial price.  Unfortunately it cannot. I would be shocked if this was a hardware issue though.

For one thing, as far as I can tell, during video recording NX2000 does some sort of sub-sampling on the sensor readings instead of down-sampling, and inevitably you get the excessive moving noise. Anything properly down-sampled to 2MP from that sensor would look smooth as silk (actually it would need on the fly sharpening, which every other camera also does). On top of that,  I am sure the processor is capable of running circles around this simple task, yet again, "if they wanted to"...

And little things like not being able to use single auto focus, or having the convenience of locking the focus during video recording (unless you use full manual focus); not being able to change the shutter speed beyond 1/30th of a second even when you are shooting at 20x time lapse mode, are simply inexplicable.

Anyway it is what it is. For it's current price NX2000 is still a blessing. It is just sad seeing all this potential go to waste.

Sorry for bothering you guys with my frustrations...
