Nikon D810 AF is quite amazing compared to D800

I have never tracked a bird moving in an arc in front of different environments (water, bushes, reeds, woods) over 28 frames and got anywhere near ALL being in perfect focus. The D800 was great for birds in flight against skies and with single point could get several shots of a bird in front of foliage.

The D810 using group AF mode handled this superbly.

The buffer is huge. This sequence took 28 FX images Raw and 28 fine jpeg at 5 fps. The buffer slowed at frame 29 onwards.

In DX mode it takes 42 raw and fine jpegs before the buffer slows

The sequence is too long to show so I have included image 3 reduced to a quarter of the size for web showing.

It is so much better than the D800. I am very pleased.
