Microcontrast. It is a function of the lens, sensor or both.

Microcontrast is the word which often cross the minds of people referring to Foveon based images.

I remember that Zeiss prized the Contax G lenses to have excellent microcontrast and delineation. Obviously, at that time it was a film as a medium to record the data common for all cameras.

Could someone explain what microcontrast and delineation means in digital world? For Foveon especially.
