Given you already own the 70-200 f2.8, I'm thinking the 58 would give you options you don't have now and would make more of a difference in your photography than the 200mm f2 would. I also have the 58 1.4G... yes, I sometimes call it the "mini 200 f/2" as it does have that subject iso. Two different tools though. I'd say they complement each other perfectly.

This is one of the few Nikkors that actually hold their value for a long time. I got mine for 3.5K almost 3 years ago. Today, they're still selling for the same amount. I can sell mine and lose NOTHING! Maybe that'll help your sales pitch, and it's a fact.
