It's the DA WR 55-300mm, I'll see if he can budget it in.

I do think the HD version has a very slight edge (see the info at PentaxForums to get a good idea), but that price includes a pretty hefty premium for new tech in the coatings, and WR. If it was me, I would tend to go economy with the kit version (not HD or WR, but optically equal in other respects). Although I personally own no lenses with the plastic mount ring, I trust Pentax to build these units a tad better than other entry offerings. And most everyone I know on these forums tend to agree that the kit lenses hold up pretty well - and the 55-300 is really not your typical kit lens.
