The kit lenses are all optically similar, with build differences and a less convenient way of overriding AF. The DA L 18-55 lens should have good weather sealing, but the 50-200 I believe does not. They are cheaper primarily because the mount ring is plastic, but reportedly still quite durable.

I believe Amazon has the similar, older K-30 with the best quality WR 18-55 at a good price in the $500s. Going with the 55-300 rather than the 50-200 will give you not only more reach, but slightly better IQ.

However, the deal you found is good, and would be better than other entry level offerings (the K-500 is entry level, and still provides better features than the main-line comparables).
