These answers are really educative for inexperienced guys like me!

Now this makes me wonder if hot spotting in general can be fought with filters bu I suppose that some catch will be there as well, wouldn't it?

Also I want to ask Mr. Caldwell, if I had the Metabones adapter with my current favorite '80s Nikon 50mm 1.4 Ai-S, should I use the lens iris or the adapter's or both for best shooting results?

This arises by the fact that I see no such adapter in the market without an iris to cut costs for lenses with proper mechanical iris in place.
