Fuji x100s service life; new model?

Hi all,

I am an amateur, and plan to take candid shots, portraits, and street photography, besides the occasional landscape.

I've finalised the much acclaimed fujifilm x100s as my long-term camera. A key factor that led me to this decision - over a DSLR - was it's portability and inconspicuous presence.

However, I still have two niggling doubts -

1- With good care what kind of service life can I expect from this camera? Is 10 years optimistic?

Are there any parts that need to be replaced after say a specified number of operations - e.g. the sensor?

Or is the x100s more of a use and throw cam?

2- It's been quite a while since the x100s debuted, and Fuji's X-system is developing fast. Does anyone have info on a possible update to a camera like the x100s? Perhaps a new X series camera that is cheaper but equally good as this one?
