D7100 and Sigma 18-35 - More Tests

Many posters have voiced concerns with the autofocus consistency and accuracy of Sigma's 18-35 1.8 lens.

The first day I took it out, I found the autofocus to be solid, but it would sometimes miss, especially if the target was a long distance away and the aperture was at 1.8. All of the shots were outdoors.

The next day, I took only indoor shots under incandescent lighting. All shots were in perfect focus, and I only shot at 1.8. I also used a focus test chart and found the PDAF to be perfectly calibrated at all focal lengths indoors.

Today, I took the lens outdoors again and did some informal tests. The focus was perfect today, and here are some image samples so that you can see exactly how sharp this combination can be:
