Time Lapse app on RX100M3 - turn off LCD display?

Has anyone used the time lapse app much yet on RX100M3?

I'm just experimenting with it a little, and so far don't see a way to turn off the LCD display while it's running. This makes the battery drain pretty quickly.

Is there a way to have the screen off during time lapse shooting? It seems to just stay on.

If not, is there a way to have the RX100M3 powered by AC while doing time lapse? I tried using the included USB charger but it won't work that way - camera has to be off to charge.
