The problem with using a phone is that you generally have to turn it on to take a picture. If I am strolling along a picturesque quay enjoying the glorious sunshine, why should I give some idiot the opportunity to call and disturb my mood, or to interrupt conversation with my friends?

Strange as it may seem, most of the people who call my phone are friends and family, not 'some idiot'.

Glad to hear it. Some of us are not so lucky.  Personally, I prefer face to face conversation, and like to get away from the phone, unfashionable though that may be.

As I said, there is more than one way to enjoy photography, and one can choose hardware which comes close to matching one's style, mood and pocket.
